missing chemistry. (hahaha)
Rupert Grint, aka Ron Weasley, has already appeared in several non-Harry Potter films, while Daniel Radcliffe has stripped naked on stage for the play Equus and plans more movies in the future.
But Emma Watson, who plays straight-laced Hermione, has chosen a different path for her life after wizarding. She has enrolled at prestigious Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
The 19-year-old’s interest in fashion has led Emma to model for Burberry in Vogue and has landed her the front row at Chanel catwalk shows. And in between takes on the Potter set, Emma studied hard and achieved an impressive eight A* and two A grades at O-level, followed by four A grades at A-level.
“I want to forget all about hair and make-up,” she says. “There isn’t a burning passion in me that I have to act and I don’t care what I do. Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione, I don’t want to act again. I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I’m doing this because I want to be normal. I really want anonymity.”
As filming continues for the two-part finale in the series - Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Emma is looking forward to university in America, even to the extent of sharing a dormitory with other freshers.
“I want to do it properly, like everyone else,” she smiles “As long as I don’t walk in and see Harry Potter posters everywhere!”
But while she throws herself into an English literature degree, Emma - who has banked a cool £10m from the Potter films - can look back on nine rollercoaster years as Hermione Granger.
“I’ve had a great time, and I’ve learned a lot of things,” she says.
“I probably grew up far quicker than most other children, though, and that goes for all the younger cast. I’ve been working essentially since I was 10 years old.
“It has all been amazing and I’m deeply grateful. But I’m still 19, so I want to do what a 19-year-old does.”
